Freshman Year
Plan a rigorous a four-year curriculum
Get involved in activities that you enjoy
Use the summer to deepen your involvement in activities or for community service
Pay attention to possible careers that may interest you – ask questions

Junior Year
Begin the College Search
Take the PSAT in October
Attend local College Fairs
Register for an SAT, SAT II and an ACT in the spring
Consider taking an SAT prep class
Take AP and/or IB Exams
By April, narrow your college choices based on your personal preferences, abilities and interests
Use the summer to visit schools and/or add to your resume
READ
Senior Year
Finalize the college list to a manageable number
If necessary, register for the September ACT or October SAT
Begin working on at least one college application essay
Ask teachers and counselors for recommendations
Complete early decision or early action applications and applications to Florida state schools before Nov. 1
Complete all other applications and wait for notification
Continue to explore career options and college majors
